Making things brighter!

Lots of graphical changes with this update!

I’ve aimed to replace all borrowed assets by recreating them with my own art style, one by one. It is taking a little while but thankfully I am enjoying the process, but most importantly, it is looking pretty!

I created a full screen sized map and zoomed out. This map has most of the assets and has allowed me to see how they all blend together when changed. See the attached pictures!

Here is the logs I’ve created the past few weeks. Enjoy!

  • Added quicksand! it is not dangerous and you can technically “swim” in it… gross.

  • Added cactus galore! pink desert flowers and desert rocks.

  • Drawn and implimented my own clouds

  • Added god rays to the skies!

  • Highered the contrast to the blocks used within the game to show a brighter and more colourful experience.

  • Redesigned the tree leaves to follow the idea of making the game brighter

  • Normal trees now have roots

  • Began redesigning “borrowed” assets. This includes, tree leaves, clouds, tree trunks, all size rocks, dead bushes, flowers, all bush sizes, moving blocks, mushrooms and save block.

  • Designed a new boss type! A massive spider! This spider is upset you’ve squished its litte babies and is in rage mode! She will be running from side to side, making it difficult for you to escape the dark cave you’ve fallen into. Can you make it to the end without becoming spider food??

  • Added a vast amount of flowers with 10 different colours and 15 different variants

  • Added 7 new mushroom colours with 30 different variants

  • Added 196 new rock designs: tiny, small, medium, tall and large

  • Redesigned the bushes to fit better with the current art style

  • Added lava bubbles

  • Created 2 new tree types. Maple and evergreen

  • Tilted the character when she runs

I believe that is all for now! I have drawn and recoloured over 500 new sprites in anticipation to making this game feel more personal for Siobhan, more colourful and, most importantly, keeping myself enjoying the process and motviated to continue. Which I really am!

Thanks for stopping by. See you in the next one!
